Internet failure hits Asia and the Middle East

Yep, one under water cable could cause this. I hope to use this as evidence to convince someone that I am working with on a SAP implementation that running all of the apps from Europe via the Internet is a poor idea.
How do you like that voice over ip phone now! That is the other problem, you are losing data and voice plus the public Internet and VPN connections. It is that easy to cripple a country now.
A clear reminder to keep resources local when you can and many will argue that running several Internet connections could save you from failures but not in a case like this. Maybe running two different providers for Inet with VPN’s PLUS a private line backup.
Well we could make some fun of this, let’s see Dubai link up over a couple of BRI ISDN connections.
